“Great Pendulum Service - GPS” connecting since the year 2009 some important Eastern Med and Marmara ports to the West Med area via the italian ports of Salerno, Genoa and La Spezia, the homeport of the Company.
The new configuration of this service, now operated with five vessels instead of four as previously, is granting more space to shippers and is based on weekly sailings from each ports; the containerships deployed have an average capacity of 1100 teu@14t. hom /about 1650 teu geometric each.
Moreover, the service rotation is upgraded with the inclusion of a new port of call, Leixoes, in the industrial northern area of Portugal, integrating thus the service already offered to Setubal, in the area of Lisbon
In the Eastern loop side of the new rotation the Italian ports of Genoa, La Spezia and Salerno are weekly connected to the Greek port of Piraeus, to the Turkish ports of Istanbul, Gebze and Mersin, then to Latakia, Beirut and Alexandria.
Returning back to Italy, vessels call again Salerno, La Spezia and Genoa, before starting the Western loop to the Moroccan port of Casablanca and proceeding then to Leixoes and Setubal in Portugal before reaching again, after a real cruise around the Mediterranean, Genoa, La Spezia and Salerno, where the eastern route shall start once more.
On the leg Portugal to Italy and v.v., Tarros is now offering to shippers an excellent containerized “Short Sea Service”, very efficient and, without doubts, more environmentally friendly than the usual “all Road” and even “Road and Ferry” services.
Considering the overall fast and reliable ships rotation, in some of the ports the containers are relayed to other areas not connected directly by GPS: several Black Sea ports are linked via Istanbul; containers to Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Malta are transhipped in the Terminal del Golfo of La Spezia (owned and operated by Tarros Group).
In every port of call vessels and Clients are assisted in the best way by the network of Agents controlled directly by Tarros Group.
In all ports Tarros is able to release to shippers containers of every type, including a large number of special units such as Palletswide, Open Tops, High Cube Open Tops, Flats and Reefers; the “best seller” of this wide range currently are the Palletswide – able to compete with trailers – and the Super High Cube, a new entry built by Tarros Group, which can be stowed with very high cargo units.
